On Monday, February 6, 2023 (Tu BiShevat – 15 Shevat, 5783) the The Miriam Felicia Lindberg Memorial Peace Foundation together with the students of the Beit Chinuch of the Galilee School, planted 13 trees in honour of the 13 children of the Patriarch Jacob. (12 sons and one daughter (Dina). The Ceremony symbolized the complete unity of all of Israel’s tribes.

Tu BiShevat (“the 15th of Shevat”) marks the beginning of a “New Year for Trees.” This is the season in which the earliest-blooming trees in the Land of Israel emerge from their winter sleep and begin a new fruit-bearing cycle.

During the tree planting ceremony, we spoke about the meaning of “Man is a tree of the field” (Deuteronomy 20:19) and reflected on the lessons we can derive from our botanical analogue.
